A soft, caressing silk, Ahimsa/Eri silk is a natural silk that is non-violent in nature as it does not kill the silkworm in the process of fibre extraction. This saree derives its deep blue colour from indigo dye and features and features patterned striped motifs on the pallu. The texture of the saree is unlike mulberry silks and is often mistaken for linen or cotton.
Our Ahimsa silk is extracted from silk cocoons that have been fed on leaves of the wild castor plants. After the silkworms emerge from the cocoons, the empty shells are boiled silk and left to air dry. The yarn is spun by hand and then dyed with natural materials such as indigo, turmeric, lac, etc. This Ahimsa silk saree has been:
> Naturally dyes used- indigo, onion skins
> Woven from yarn that has been spun by hand
> Handwoven on traditional looms
Our silk sarees are handwoven by artisans on traditional looms in Assam and may have slight variations in the weave as a result of its handmade features.
Products are shot in natural light. The colour may slightly vary due to photographic lighting sources or your monitor settings.
